Abstract

Through this work as new method of non-contact damage detection is proposed using wave-mode filtering of guided ultrasonic Lamb modes. By generating a multi frequency standing wave in a plate like structure the relationship between wavelength, frequency, mode and thickness was used to identify features such as thinning defects, stiffener separation, corrosion features or any other geometric features.
