BBC Radio’s construction of Wales, Northern Ireland and Greater Manchester through adapted drama since 1985.

A project to catalogue all work adapted by BBC Radio over a 25-year period (1985 - 2009) and examine some of those adaptations. The thesis examines constructions of regional identity in BBC Radio adaptations of work by writers from Wales, Northern Ireland and Greater Manchester. The thesis looks at the complex ways in which meaning is communicated in audio works.
