Abstract



We consider the motion of droplets over
chemically heterogeneous surfaces with mass transfer effects, using applied
mathematical analysis and simulations. To alleviate the computational costs
associated with simulating  such situations, we break down the complex
governing equations to develop simple, yet accurate, surrogate models to
uncover new phenomena, whilst offering an attractive alternative to full scale
simulations.
